Aakash IV To Be Ready By January 2014: Kapil Sibal

Last month only, we reported about the proposed specifications for the low-cost tablet Aakash IV. It Seems that the Indian Government wants to take this on a fast track atleast, hence specifications have been finalised in a month’s time. “Yesterday we had meeting on the Aakash. The generation 4 Aakash is ready. The specifications of next version of low-cost tablet Aakash are finalised, which would be ready by January 2014,” said Telecom and IT Minister Kapil Sibal. The minister also said that around 12 manufacturers from around the world are ready to make the Aakash IV tablet in India. “There is no problem in terms of manufacture. In fact lines are ready for manufacture, what they need is orders.” he added. The Directorate General of Supplies and Disposals (DGS&D) will start the process for orders for Aakash IV. We cannot confirm the final specifications of Aakash IV, as we are yet to receive the final press release by the government. But as per proposed specifications, the latest version of Aakash should be capable of supporting 4G services, phone calling features, 4 GB in built storage and bluetooth connectivity etc.
