LG is already mass producing a flexible display curved smartphone

LG is already mass producing a flexible display curved smartphone

  • Reports are coming out of LG’s home territory of Korea that the company is already mass producing a curved smartphone that utilizes a flexible OLED panel. The phone is expected to carry the name LG Z and could appear for sale before the end of the month in Korea.

What LG has apparently done is take a 6-inch flexible OLED panel and fitted it into a curved shell to form the smartphone. The end result is a fixed shape curved smartphone, but one that is thought to have advantages over the more typical flat phones when it comes to holding and using it. It’s a more natural shape to hold, basically.

It seems unlikely the curving of the handset will be very extreme. While you can make the display and casing curved, the core components inside the handset remain solid, flat objects. LG will be forced to either use a smaller battery or two batteries inside the Z, which will ultimately raise the manufacturing costs and complexity of the phone, or lower battery life considerably.

The components being used in the LG Z have yet to be confirmed, but a Snapdragon 800 processor, support for LTE, and a 1080p display are expected alongside Android as the mobile OS of choice.

Early this year Samsung demonstrated a couple of prototype flexible displays carrying the brand name YOUM, one of which was suitable for smartphones. However, they haven’t launched a product using it yet, and clearly LG isn’t ready to let us start folding or rolling up a display in one of its handsets yet, either. Maybe next year, then.

Blackberry pauses BBM Android and iOS rollout following Leaked apps

    bbm-to-android-ios

Blackberry has stopped seeding the Blackberry messenger for iOS and Android apps following a leaked Android app that caused server and stability issues with the Blackberry messaging network. There were too many simultaneous users, the company says; with over 1.1 million active clients in the first eight hours of the initial seed.
BlackBerry says that it has tried to address the problems caused by the leaked app throughout the day, but to no avail, requiring it to halt its launch plans. The company says that those that have already downloaded the iOS version of the app will still be able to use it, but it will not be releasing it to any new markets at this time. The leaked version of the Android app will be disabled.

Blackberry now plans a  ”staggered country roll-out” for Android and will soon restart the rollout for iOS. The company was hesitant in giving a timelinefor this new rollout, only saying
our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM.”

The company’s official statement is below:
Prior to launching BBM for Android, an unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online. The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already – more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app – is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day.
Our teams continue to work around the clock to bring BBM to Android and iPhone, but only when it’s ready and we know it will live up to your expectations of BBM. We are pausing the global roll-out of BBM for Android and iPhone. Customers who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will be able to continue to use BBM. The unreleased Android app will be disabled, and customers who downloaded it should visit www.BBM.com to register for updates on official BBM for Android availability.
As soon as we are able, we will begin a staggered country roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the roll-out of BBM for iPhone. Please follow @BBM on Twitter for the latest updates and go to www.BBM.com to sign-up for updates about BBM for Android and iPhone. These issues have not impacted BBM service for BlackBerry.

iOS 7 To Be Launched On September 10

September 10 is the date we’re currently marking in the diaries for the iPhone 5S and 5C reveal, and that may have just been reinforced by a claim that we’ll see the release of iOS 7 that very same day. According to an email sent to developers from Nuance, the company behind Siri, the general availability date for iOS 7 is set for September 10. The Next Web contributing writer Owen Williams posted the below email from Nuance to his personal blog, it reads: As you are probably aware, iOS 7 GA will be released on September 10th. The NDEV Program has pre-qualified that SpeechKit 1.4.5 works properly on iOS 7, but we encourage you to conduct own testing to ensure that when the upgrade happens, your Nuance speech services continue to work seamlessly. It asked developers using its API to conduct testing to ensure that their services work on iOS 7 even though its SpeechKit 1.4.5 is pre-qualified to work properly on iOS 7. Nuance is the voice recognition focused company which has also worked on Siri, Apple’s intelligent voice assistant. Historically, Apple has released iOS Golden Master versions to developers on the same day as the announcement of new iPhones, giving developers time to test their apps with the final version of the new iOS before its release it to the general public a couple of days before the launch of the new iPhone.

iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C In Fresh Leaks

As we are approaching the event date on September 10 in San Francisco, the all new leaks makes it more prominent. New leaks from Sonny Dickson, has about 70 purported pictures of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C components. Sonny Dickson, who’s been regularly posting pictures of the new iPhones, including some high resolution ones of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C components including that of ribbon cables and components, the entire intact casings, display assemblies, vibration motor, audio jack, SIM trays, the front and rear cameras, and the mounts to attach all of the components to the casing, among others. The pictures don’t feature the logic board of the phones, though. Some pictures feature the Gold/ Champagne iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C placed side by side. The Gold iPhone 5S back casing features White coloured strips at the top and bottom, and includes the new pill shaped camera flash module that’s been suggested by a number of rumours. Unlike the iPhone 5′s camera flash the iPhone 5S flash is not round and is rumoured to feature dual-LEDs, which would have white or yellow light depending on the ambient light conditions. The low-cost iPhone or iPhone 5C has leaked several times. Alleged pictures of the iPhone 5C have revealed a plastic polycarbonate body back panel in White, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green colours, a round camera lens and LED flash, Apple logo and iPhone branding. The Red iPhone 5C variant appears to have a Black coloured display panel. The phones seen in the images are not very different from the ones seen in previous leaks. We will have to wait till September 10, to see what Apple is going to present with the new launches. So stay tuned..

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Pre Release Leaks,Rumors and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the next big daddy smartphone for the company after the big Note 2 launched last year at IFA Berlin. In a similar fashion at IFA 2013, Samsung will hold their Unpacked event where they plan to unveil a few of the goodies intended for the next generation of technology. The Galaxy Note 3 is the most prominent upcoming Smartphone and the world has a lot of expectations from Samsung when it comes to the Note 3, and it mostly has to do with the build quality. Lets start off with things we know for sure, The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will launch on September 4th at the Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany. The design of the Note 3, is going to be a mix of the Galaxy S4 and the original Note and Note 2. The new Note will still carry an S Pen with more enhanced features. The new Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be slimmer and slightly lighter than the last edition. Press render Hardware and Specs According to Rumors, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have a 1920 x 1080p 5.7-inch display of the super Amoled Variety, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor or an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset depending on region, 3GB of RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The display here will get an increase from the 5.5 inch we saw last year, but the size of the Note 3 may not be that much more thanks to the “less bezel” design implemented in the new S4 which is expected to be incorporated in the Galaxy Note 3. A 13-megapixel camera setup with optical image stabilization along side a 5 MP front camera with autofocus and HD video calling. Although a lot of sources claim that the Note 3 will come in 32 Gb and 64 GB variants, a 16GB variant will help reduce costs, especially in countries like India where the Dollar prices are skyrocketing. The Battery is expected to be bumped up to a 3200 mAh battery providing a considerable increase in battery life. Features and UI If the new Note 3 does get Android 4.3, you can expect a newer version of Touchwiz UI along side some of the features carried over from the Galaxy S4 including gestures and Air View among many other new features that Samsung will design to make this flagship more popular. You can also expect the camera features like dual shot and capture, sound and shot and animated photo. Reports suggest that a host of new features are being designed for the new S-Pen that may also feature smart calling thanks to a secondary button on the Pen hardware. What To / Not To Expected The Galaxy Note 3 is not expected to be a unibody smartphone, with metal chassis, despite many claims. Although, a move in this direction could possibly put all questions about build quality to rest. The Global version of the Note 3 may not come with LTE, while those tied to carriers can expect an LTE variant, those who buy the Exynos based Note 3 will be greeted with 3G only speeds. The Galaxy Note 3 may be launched in a dual sim variant for markets like Korea, China and India. The Galaxy Note 3 may also be launched in a Google edition, however the S Pen would then become redundant, unless they make a suite of apps available for the hardware. Expect the Galaxy Note 3 in India as early as October for prices upwards of Rs. 45000 for the basic variant which we expect will be 16 GB. Samsung is also planning to pair up the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch with several new cases and accessories along with a new smart watch dubbed “Galaxy Gear”.

HTC Zara Specs Leak, Budget Device With 4.5" Display And Sense 5.5

HTC is bringing the design language from the One series down to entry level devices, according to an image by notorious leaker evleaks. The HTC Zara has been rumoured before, but its specs never really jumped out at us. With a 4.5-inch qHD screen (960×540 pixels), a dual-core 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, an UltraPixel camera, a 2100mAh battery and, perhaps most interestingly, Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. As handsets go, the HTC Zara (a codename and not final shipping designation) looks to be a mix of the lower-end Desire line and the HTC One. You can see two front-facing speakers along with the company’s unique button placement. The main differences are the more rounded corners and that distinctly Desire-like camera ring on the back. HTC Zara is the second phone we hear of that’s going to launch with the updated Sense 5.5 user interface running on top of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The HTC One Max is going to debut with the company’s updated UI. Sense is HTC’s differentiator in the Android game, though recently it has been focusing more on hardware improvements than software gimmicks. Whether Sense 5.5 will retain the familiar BlinkFeed home screen remains to be seen, but we don’t think HTC will mess with a good thing.

Rumour : Galaxy Note 3 Will Start Shipping In Early September

Samsung is preparing for their big Unpacked event on September 4th. This is when the Galaxy Note 3 and the rumoured Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be unveiled. Specs of both these Android-powered devices have leaked online, but today a new report by reputable site SamMobile has revealed possible shipping dates. If the insider information is to be believed, we should expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to be available for purchase in September. The company’s third-gen phablet is expected to start shipping in Week 36, which goes from September 2 to September 8. Actual market availability usually takes about a week after the units start leaving the factories, so mid-September seems like a a likely target. As for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, it’s going to hit store shelves in October or Week 40 to be specific (September 30 – October 6). Of course, none of these dates are confirmed and SamMobile has a reputable track record of nailing Samsung products and specs, and states there might be “a delay of a week or two may happen, depending on region.” Another note on the Note 3 states that Samsung will apparently drop the 16GB version and offer a base model of the Galaxy Note 3 with 32GB of internal storage. Other notable rumoured specs of the Note 3 are its 5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080 resolution, 1.8GHz Octa-core Exynos 5420 processor, 3GB RAM, 13MP camera with OIS, LTE connectivity, 3,200 mAh battery and runs Android OS 4.3 Jelly Bean.

HTC One blue Emerges In Leaked Press Shot

After being released initially in silver and subsequently in black and red in the UK, HTC is poised to add a blue variant to its One flagship. According to evleaks, the HTC One will be made available in blue sometime in the future, though it’s uncertain for which market it is intended. With the launch of the Moto X and Nokia’s proliferating colour choice through its product lineup, OEMs are taking to less obvious colour schemes as a way to differentiate themselves. It’s unlikely that India will see this variant, but we can always hope. The HTC One was launched with a 4.7-inch screen, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, 4MP UltraPixel camera on the back, and front camera for making video calls. HTC is busy promoting its next device, which is expected to be the One Max, on Twitter. The company posted a teaser video on Tuesday, suggesting something big is arriving. The new video was tagged as ‘Big Things Ahead’ and showed a person with an HTC device (which we believe is the HTC One Max) that featured the same design as that of the HTC One.

Micromax : Nothing like getting arrested?

Two owners of the popular mobile phone company Micromax mobile have been arrested in a bribery case in New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught the company bosses amidst a Rs 30 lakh bribe to the engineers of North Delhi Municipal Corporation for clearance to a banquet hall construction. Incidentally the whole scenario has nothing to do with the Micromax Mobile division, but since the owners were involved the company has come into dark waters. The CBI on Wednesday arrested Rajesh Agrawal and Manish Tuli, both of Micromax Informatics, the officers also arrested two junior officials of the municipal corporation and carried out a total of 15 searches between MCD offices and Micromax owner residences and has recovered Rs 40 lakh in cash from the premises of one junior engineer Kapil Dev. Vikas Jain, co-founder and business director of Micromax, declined immediate comment on the matter. The Gurgaon-based company is the 12th largest mobile handset maker in the world, according to its website. Micromax had recently launched the Micromax Canvas 4 and is ready to launch two new handsets in the next 45 days according to co-founder Vikas Jain. This will not affect the company’s operations in any form – said another spokesperson.

We really do not count on the tasks that we do on our phone, a lot of multitasking and using the phones every now and then. The only thing we forget is that even though the phone gives us so many benefits to make life easy, at the end of the day it is a machine which needs to be cared for. We get our car/bike serviced because when you use them for a while or so they would need to be thoroughly cleaned and tuned up as they are machines. We are not saying to get your smartphone serviced, but what you can do is to take care of it on daily basis. Here are some basic steps that you can follow: The Screen- This is one of the first part prone to scratches, can be because of anything like: nails, keys in the pocket, some change, the irregular surface its kept on or a bad quality screen guard. It is very important that we use good quality screen guards on our much loved smartphone and also taking care of small things like where we keep our phone. Screen scratches The Phone Itself- Not only the screen but the phone’s body is easily prone to scratches too, no matter how much you care for the phone there are some scratches that shows up now and then. In order to protect your phone’s body you can use a good back cover, that might not only give safety but add up to looks. The Battery- The most talked about problems is the quick draining battery, does your phone lasts for just a day ? or not even that ? well, here are few steps that might just help you. Make sure that the brightness of the screen is as per your need because the more brighter it is the more battery it consumes. You should enable the power saving mode. Close all unnecessary apps and most importantly NEVER overcharge your phone, this can result to low life of battery or harm the phone charging port in the long run. These are few steps that can help you to take better care of your phone. We spend upto 45,000 Rupees for the best of smartphones available, so its good if we take care of them which would further ensure these phones to be with us for long times.

iPhone's Camera Is Awful - Claims New Nokia Lumia 925 Advertisment

Camera war heats up with Nokia’s new advertisement for the Lumia 925′s camera, claiming it to be better than the iPhone’s camera. An Apple ad says – more people take pictures with an iPhone than with any other camera. This fine argument has been used by Apple more than once. In a new ad, Nokia picks it up and slaps Apple across. It says “Everyday more photos taken on an iPhone than any other phone, but at Nokia we prefer to build for quality, not just quantity.” The ad lures you into believing this might be that very Apple ad, or at least another in the series. Then the voice of Helsinki sinks its teeth into Apple’s hubris: “At Nokia, we prefer to build for quality, not quantity.” It’s an understandable strategy, one that has already been expressed in the new Lumia 1020 ad. Clearly, Nokia has embraced the concept of its phones being a wonderful camera with a keyboard attached. Why would anyone buy an iPhone 5 after this? Why wouldn’t everyone want an 8.7-megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss lens, and dual LED flash at their side all the time? While Nokia clearly intends to show off the imaging prowess of its Lumia devices, as imaging is the major differentiators in its flagship phones, the parody is in bad taste, and clearly reflects Nokia’s frustration at not being able to sell as many Lumia devices as it intends to.

Another thing worth appreciating is that rooting will not void your warranty, well you wont have to root the device anyway, because its pre rooted. iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 HTC Butterfly S The Build and design are actually quite like the HTC Butterfly, with the paint finish matching the newer HTC Butterfly S. the build quality seems robust at first, no indication as to what the display glass is , but the phone does have an 5 inch 1920 x 1080p Active matrix display and an OGS panel, which means the display and the touchscreen are fused together, which also means that the likely maker of the LCD panel is LG. The Power and volume rocker buttons appear to have been made from steel, and are very tactile. The replaceable panels included in the box are a great boon, and will reduce the need of a back cover, the handset also comes with an antiglare screen protector, which may be replaced with a more suitable one which cover the ful screen as the one included does not. The feel and finish of the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 are premium, although, some may not appreciate the overly large Logos at the back of the device. Now lets see how the handset performs, stay tuned for benchmarks and gaming.

Samsung Working On 12.2" And 10" Tablets With 2,560 x 1,600 Resolution Panels

Samsung has just released three new tablets in the form of the entry-level Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, the mid-range Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and the in-the-middle Galaxy Tab 3 10.1. While all are clear improvements over their predecessors, both in terms of appearance and software, they still lack the high-end components of some of their Galaxy Note counterparts. According to evleaks, Samsung is to release a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note variant with an Exynos 5 Octa chip and high-resolution screen of 2560×1600 pixels, along with an S-Pen. This will likely appeal to the stationary tablet user, someone who wants a large, sharp display for sketching or drafting. Its model number is slated to be SM-P900. Another tablet, a more manageable 10-inch variant, will likely join the Galaxy Tab family, and have a similar resolution of 2560×1600 pixels — this is the same density as the Nexus 10 — along with an ultra-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC. Model number P600. Expect these tablets to debut in the coming months, as Samsung continues to saturate the phone and tablet market with every conceivable price range and screen size. There also exists the possibility that both of these tablets may have 3GB of RAM onboard. Right now no alleged pictures of both tablets have leaked and it is not known when Samsung plans on making them official.

Sony Announces Android 4.3 Update For Select Xperia Devices

Sony Mobile officially confirmed the upcoming availability of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system for some of its latest Xperia smartphones out there, including the Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra. A post on the company’s blog says it is “already getting stuck in” and is working to develop updates for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP and Xperia Z Ultra. Some older Xperia phones running Android 4.1 are still under examination. There’s a possibility that at least some of them will be updated straight to Android 4.3, but no names have been confirmed yet. Sony, however, is not known for being quick with Android rollouts so customers will probably need to be patient once again. Back in December 2012, the company promised Android 4.2 updates for 10 of its 2012 Xperia range, and that process was only completed last month. It admits that the Android 4.1 upgrade “process hasn’t been as succinct or as timely as you might’ve expected”, which leads us to believe that this may happen once again with the roll-out of the third Jelly Bean iteration. With Android 4.3, many of the updates appear to be under the hood. Among the front-end changes is the addition of a Multi-User Restricted Profiles feature. Sony posted a video of the Xperia Tablet Z already running the AOSP version of Android 4.3, as they previously did with 4.2.
