Buy Android Smartphones In Rs 6000 (Guide) RgyaaN

Budget Android Smartphones Under Rs 6,000 In India (June 2013)

At a time when all smartphone manufacturers are busy releasing high-end devices sporting expensive price tags (best example being Samsung's GALAXY S4, the Apple iPhone series, and Sony Xperia Z and its brethren), and targeting the so-called elite sector and youth with money, we sometimes feel that the common man is not getting his due when it comes to using latest technology smartphones.

Since feature phone users today are being bombarded with myths about spending at least Rs 10,000 for a decent smartphone, people with not so high monthly income are almost deprived of the smartphone experience. Also, there are these doubting Thomases who would first want to get their feet wet before investing a large sum in premium smartphones. Having said that, we would like to add that not all inexpensive phones available in the market offer great value for money. In fact, Android devices with less than 512 MB of RAM can be highly sluggish and experience breakers.

Keeping all that in mind, we have compiled a list of smartphones that can be purchased for an amount less than Rs 6,000 in India. These smartphones may not be "the latest" as some of today's high-end phones (with Quad-core processors and HD screens), but provide good value for money and a smooth smartphone experience to people using them. Here are the smartphones that you can purchase for Rs 6,000 (or less) in India:

Xolo A500: (Rs. 5,900)
Coming from the company that holds the distinction of launching the first Intel powered smartphone, Xolo A500, though not Intel based, comes with a dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM, and runs Android 4.0 Ice-Cream sandwich operating system. It also provides users dual cameras as well as 3G connectivity. This smartphone can be bought for Rs 5,900.

Key technical specifications of Xolo A500 are as follows:
  • 4-inch capacitive display (800x480 pixels).
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
  • 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor.
  • Dual-SIM support.
  • 4GB internal memory which can be upgraded up to 32GB with the help of microSD card.
  • 5 MP Primary camera with LED Flash and 0.3 MP front camera.
  • 512MB RAM.
  • 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity.

Lava Iris 405: (Rs 5,900)
Priced at Rs 5,900, the Lava Iris 405 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, and has twin cameras. The smartphone claims to provide a talktime of upto 6 hrs on 2G, and supports FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air) to carry out future firmware upgrades. Again, it has a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM.

Its key tech specs are:
  • 4" capacitive touch screen having 480 x 800 pixels.
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
  • 1 GHz dual-core CPU.
  • 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 0.3 MP front camera.
  • 512 MB RAM.
  • Dual-SIM support.
  • 4 GB internal storage.
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32 GB.
  • Wi-Fi with hotspot, 3G, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm audio jack, FM radio, aGPS.
  • 1400 mAh Li-Polymer battery, with 6 hours 2G talk time.

Micromax A89 Ninja: (Rs 6,000)
An economical Micromax offering, the A89 Ninja is priced at Rs 6000, and provides dual-SIM support, and runs on the Android 4.0 operating system. This smartphone is suited for basic internet browsing and regular usage, apart from being used as a "music-phone". This may not be ideal for camera enthusiasts or those thinking about making video calls as it comes with a 3 MP camera, and no front camera.

Tech-specs of Micromax A89 Ninja:
  • 4-inch capacitive touch screen display having 480 x 800 pixels
  • Android 4.0 operating system
  • 1 GHz dual-core CPU
  • Dual-SIM support
  • 3 MP rear camera
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 4 GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slort for expansion up to 32 GB
  • Bluetooth, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, and USB connectivity
  • 1450 mAh battery with claimed talktime of 4 hours and standby time of 7 days.

Priced at Rs 5,000, the Smart Flo Pace Mi-422 from Spice is the cheapest Android phone in this list. Unlike the rest, this one does not have 3G connectivity or a dual-core processor. But it does have a 1GHz CPU along with 512 MB of RAM, and dual cameras. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. For that price, it's a good dual-SIM Android smartphone for beginners.

Tech-specs of the device are:
  • Android 4.0 OS.
  • Dual-SIM.
  • 4" capacitive multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions of 800x480 pixels.
  • 1 GHz CPU.
  • 512 MB RAM.
  • microSD card support for up to 32 GB.
  • 3.2 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 0.3 megapixel front camera.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Edge, A-GPS.

Karbonn A7 Star: (Rs 6000)
Karbonn A7 Star has a price tag of Rs 6,000 and is the only phone in this list that offers a 4.5-inch display at an affordable price. Apart from this, the smartphone has a 5MP camera.  However, there is only 164 MB internal storage by default, but it does have a microSD card slot to expand it further by 32 GB. The only catch here is that the phone does not support 3G.

Tech-specs of Karbonn A7 Star:
  • 4.5" Capacitive screen with 480x854 pixels.
  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
  • 1 GHz dual-core CPU.
  • Dual-SIM support.
  • 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, VGA front camera.
  • 512 MB of RAM.
  • 164 MB internal storage.
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32 GB.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM radio.
  • 3.5 mm jack, microUSB port.
  • 1400 mAh battery.

So that's the list of quality budget smartphones as of now. Going by the speed at which mobile technology is advancing, I would not be surprised to see quad-core phones in this list next quarter.

LG is already mass producing a flexible display curved smartphone

LG is already mass producing a flexible display curved smartphone

  • Reports are coming out of LG’s home territory of Korea that the company is already mass producing a curved smartphone that utilizes a flexible OLED panel. The phone is expected to carry the name LG Z and could appear for sale before the end of the month in Korea.

What LG has apparently done is take a 6-inch flexible OLED panel and fitted it into a curved shell to form the smartphone. The end result is a fixed shape curved smartphone, but one that is thought to have advantages over the more typical flat phones when it comes to holding and using it. It’s a more natural shape to hold, basically.

It seems unlikely the curving of the handset will be very extreme. While you can make the display and casing curved, the core components inside the handset remain solid, flat objects. LG will be forced to either use a smaller battery or two batteries inside the Z, which will ultimately raise the manufacturing costs and complexity of the phone, or lower battery life considerably.

The components being used in the LG Z have yet to be confirmed, but a Snapdragon 800 processor, support for LTE, and a 1080p display are expected alongside Android as the mobile OS of choice.

Early this year Samsung demonstrated a couple of prototype flexible displays carrying the brand name YOUM, one of which was suitable for smartphones. However, they haven’t launched a product using it yet, and clearly LG isn’t ready to let us start folding or rolling up a display in one of its handsets yet, either. Maybe next year, then.
  • Samsung is Claimed to Boost The Galaxy Note 3 Benchmarks to Show Better Performance

Samsung has been into news earlier this year for inflating the benchmark scores of the Exynos devices and this time the company might have also done the same with other versions of hardware as well. As reported by Ars Technica, the galaxy note 3 Snapdragon 800 version includes a code that allows the central processing unit cores to run at full speed during some benchmark tests. This allows the device to give a 20 percent higher score in any benchmark app, or the source says this is enough to claim an artificial large advantage over competitive devices like the G2. The website further says, there might also be graphics boost, we’ve asked Samsung for its take on the findings. Whether or not the company responds, we don’t envy its position. What do you think of this ?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Announced With Improved S-Pen

Specifications Company/Brand Samsung Type Phablet OS Android 4.3 + TouchWiz Price TBA Announced August, 2013 Hype 5/5 Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC Processor 1.9 GHz octa-core RAM 3GB Battery 3200 mAH Primary Camera 13 MP Secondary Camera 2.1 MP Video Capabilities Full HD recording @30fps Weight 168 grams Dimensions 6 Main Display 5.7-inch AMOLED; 1,920x1,080 pixels; 386.5ppi In-Built Storage 32GB / 64GB Special Features Dual Camera: Dual Shot / Dual Recording/ Dual Video Call Recording: UHD 30fps, Smooth motion (FHD 60fps), Slow motion (HD 120fps) Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, a device that promises to be demonstrably faster than its predecessor while keeping the tradition of being thinner, lighter and more compact than the Note II. The 5.7-inch device has been upgraded to 1920×1080 pixels, and at 168 grams and 8.3mm thick, it’s actually thinner and lighter than the Note II. It comes with a soft-touch, textured backing in three colours, black, white and pink. The backside of the Galaxy Note 3 features a 13-megapixel camera which is capable of 4K video recording and a faux leather cover. Sandwiched in-between those parts is a 2.3Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC with 3GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB storage expandable up to 64GB and a 3,200mAh battery. As expected, it runs on Android 4.3 with TouchWIZ. “We introduced the original Galaxy Note in 2011 and launched a whole new smart device category. The undeniable success of the Galaxy Note strengthened our conviction that consumers want higher quality features for smart devices and they want those new features to make their lives better,” said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a powerful, original approach that enables users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expressions of their passions across work, play and life experiences. With a simple click of the S Pen button, users can unlock opportunities for self-expression, features that transform everyday activities into extraordinary events and access to new experiences delivered to them on Note 3’s larger screen”. The Note 3 also comes with a few interesting software features, including Air Command, an on-screen portal to four specific features: Action Memo - Quick handwritten notes that can be converted into actions. For example, you can write out someone’s name, phone number and address and the software will automatically parse the data and add him or her to your address book. Scrapbook - Basically a mobile Evernote Web Clipper, this allows you to grab pieces of web page — text or photo — and save it in various notebooks Screen Write – Full screen memos with annotations S Finder – Finds content online or in the phone just by entering keywords Pen Window - Arguably the most interesting piece of the puzzle, it allows users to open a separate app in a window size of your choosing, overlaid on top of another app. For example, if you’re chatting about expenses with your wife or husband in the SMS app, you can overlay a calculator on top and perform the addition without leaving the app. There’s also a new and improved Multi Window feature, which now allows for data sharing and interaction between apps. Samsung has also done plenty of work to the S-Pen. The stylus is now more a part of the Galaxy Note 3 than ever before. ‘The S-Pen is now the key that unlocks all the power, functionality and features of the Galaxy Note 3.’ Samsung detailed the following new attributes of its S-Pen at launch: Action Memo allows users to handwrite a note and automatically execute a function or convert that handwritten information into formatted content. Action Memo can instantly initiate a call, add to contacts, look up an address on a map, search the web, save a task to a to-do list, and more Air Command – hold the S-Pen on the Galaxy Note 3’s display and it brings up five Quick Commands in a circular menu. The idea here is to allow for quick note taking from anywhere in the Galaxy Note 3’s UX. Scrapbook enables users to organise or track down content and information from various sources including the web, YouTube and Gallery in one place so that users can easily look back at collected content all at once. When consumers save content for future use, Scrapbook also collects source material or URLs allowing them to easily refer back to the original source The Screen Write feature captures the full screen image of the current page on the device and allows users to write comments or additional information onto the captured image S Finder allows users to expansively search for content on their device regardless of the type. By putting in keywords or filters such as date, location and content type, users can search related documents, events, communication threads, and even the Help page – all in one place. In addition, users can also search for hand-written content in their Notes and memo applications, as well as symbols and formulas Pen Window allows users to use the S Pen not only for drawing sketches or writing notes, but now also for opening a small application window for a true multitasking experience. Simply by drawing a window of any size, anywhere on the screen, users can easily and quickly open another application window such as YouTube, calculator or Browser without pausing current activity on the screen The new Galaxy Note 3 is slated to begin rolling out to consumers on Sept. 25, and Samsung says that it’ll eventually hit 140 countries around the globe. This new Note is expected to be available worldwide in October. Stay tuned for pricing information! Expect an iGyaan style review soon!

iOS 7 To Be Launched On September 10

September 10 is the date we’re currently marking in the diaries for the iPhone 5S and 5C reveal, and that may have just been reinforced by a claim that we’ll see the release of iOS 7 that very same day. According to an email sent to developers from Nuance, the company behind Siri, the general availability date for iOS 7 is set for September 10. The Next Web contributing writer Owen Williams posted the below email from Nuance to his personal blog, it reads: As you are probably aware, iOS 7 GA will be released on September 10th. The NDEV Program has pre-qualified that SpeechKit 1.4.5 works properly on iOS 7, but we encourage you to conduct own testing to ensure that when the upgrade happens, your Nuance speech services continue to work seamlessly. It asked developers using its API to conduct testing to ensure that their services work on iOS 7 even though its SpeechKit 1.4.5 is pre-qualified to work properly on iOS 7. Nuance is the voice recognition focused company which has also worked on Siri, Apple’s intelligent voice assistant. Historically, Apple has released iOS Golden Master versions to developers on the same day as the announcement of new iPhones, giving developers time to test their apps with the final version of the new iOS before its release it to the general public a couple of days before the launch of the new iPhone.

Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240 vs Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 : Fight

Samsung has been the leader in the “phablet” segment for quite some time, but Indian brands are trying to change that and fast. With the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 coming awfully close to the title. But, today its the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 A240 vs Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 ,the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 is almost the same when it comes to screen size and dimensions. There are pros and cons on both devices, and in most cases users tend to choose Samsung over any other brand, for the sheer brand value and service network. The Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 has one major disadvantage in all of this, the inability to accept microSD cards for storage expansion. We saw that with just a few games and music we ran out of space which can be really crucial on Smartphones these days. However the Canvas Doodle 2 wins hands down against the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 in a few departments including cameras, where the doodle 2 carries a 12 + 5 MP combo the Mega 5.8 carries a 8 +1.9 MP combo. The display on the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 also leaves Samsung Galaxy mega in the pixel dust, with a 1280 x 720 pixel on a 5.7 Doodle 2 inch vs a 960 x 550 px on a 5.8 inch Galaxy Mega 5.8. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 is not ready to go down without a fight simply because, what it loses in the hardware department it brings in an additional 0.5 GB of RAM and the TouchWiz experience which some like and some hate. Most can also argue that the heavy to use TouchWiz itself will be responsible for additional RAM requirements. iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C In Fresh Leaks

As we are approaching the event date on September 10 in San Francisco, the all new leaks makes it more prominent. New leaks from Sonny Dickson, has about 70 purported pictures of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C components. Sonny Dickson, who’s been regularly posting pictures of the new iPhones, including some high resolution ones of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C components including that of ribbon cables and components, the entire intact casings, display assemblies, vibration motor, audio jack, SIM trays, the front and rear cameras, and the mounts to attach all of the components to the casing, among others. The pictures don’t feature the logic board of the phones, though. Some pictures feature the Gold/ Champagne iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C placed side by side. The Gold iPhone 5S back casing features White coloured strips at the top and bottom, and includes the new pill shaped camera flash module that’s been suggested by a number of rumours. Unlike the iPhone 5′s camera flash the iPhone 5S flash is not round and is rumoured to feature dual-LEDs, which would have white or yellow light depending on the ambient light conditions. The low-cost iPhone or iPhone 5C has leaked several times. Alleged pictures of the iPhone 5C have revealed a plastic polycarbonate body back panel in White, Blue, Red, Yellow and Green colours, a round camera lens and LED flash, Apple logo and iPhone branding. The Red iPhone 5C variant appears to have a Black coloured display panel. The phones seen in the images are not very different from the ones seen in previous leaks. We will have to wait till September 10, to see what Apple is going to present with the new launches. So stay tuned..

The device is likely to be juiced by a 2,600mAh battery and run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. This device will compete with rivals like Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Grand Series. Preview a couple of the images of the upcoming device below and wait for a featured Hands On. Micromax had recently launched the Micromax Canvas 4 A210 and this will be the second iteration of Micromax’s high build quality phones. The company is planning to demonstrate better builds with their latest handsets, but the inclusion of merely a MT6589 vs MT6589T that the competition is using may turn out to be a disadvantage for the company. The Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 may be dubbed as the A240 and will feature a HD 5.7 inch display. If the company does end up using the MT6589T chipset they might actually bump the screen resolution to 1920 x 1080 px as seen in the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1. The top flap of the phone around the camera will open up to make space for the two sim cards. It is also expected that the phone may not have expandable storage. Update: It appears the above images are of the MyPhone Iceberg (A Philippines based brand), the same phone is going to be the Canvas Doodle 2.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Pre Release Leaks,Rumors and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the next big daddy smartphone for the company after the big Note 2 launched last year at IFA Berlin. In a similar fashion at IFA 2013, Samsung will hold their Unpacked event where they plan to unveil a few of the goodies intended for the next generation of technology. The Galaxy Note 3 is the most prominent upcoming Smartphone and the world has a lot of expectations from Samsung when it comes to the Note 3, and it mostly has to do with the build quality. Lets start off with things we know for sure, The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will launch on September 4th at the Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany. The design of the Note 3, is going to be a mix of the Galaxy S4 and the original Note and Note 2. The new Note will still carry an S Pen with more enhanced features. The new Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be slimmer and slightly lighter than the last edition. Press render Hardware and Specs According to Rumors, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have a 1920 x 1080p 5.7-inch display of the super Amoled Variety, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor or an eight-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset depending on region, 3GB of RAM and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The display here will get an increase from the 5.5 inch we saw last year, but the size of the Note 3 may not be that much more thanks to the “less bezel” design implemented in the new S4 which is expected to be incorporated in the Galaxy Note 3. A 13-megapixel camera setup with optical image stabilization along side a 5 MP front camera with autofocus and HD video calling. Although a lot of sources claim that the Note 3 will come in 32 Gb and 64 GB variants, a 16GB variant will help reduce costs, especially in countries like India where the Dollar prices are skyrocketing. The Battery is expected to be bumped up to a 3200 mAh battery providing a considerable increase in battery life. Features and UI If the new Note 3 does get Android 4.3, you can expect a newer version of Touchwiz UI along side some of the features carried over from the Galaxy S4 including gestures and Air View among many other new features that Samsung will design to make this flagship more popular. You can also expect the camera features like dual shot and capture, sound and shot and animated photo. Reports suggest that a host of new features are being designed for the new S-Pen that may also feature smart calling thanks to a secondary button on the Pen hardware. What To / Not To Expected The Galaxy Note 3 is not expected to be a unibody smartphone, with metal chassis, despite many claims. Although, a move in this direction could possibly put all questions about build quality to rest. The Global version of the Note 3 may not come with LTE, while those tied to carriers can expect an LTE variant, those who buy the Exynos based Note 3 will be greeted with 3G only speeds. The Galaxy Note 3 may be launched in a dual sim variant for markets like Korea, China and India. The Galaxy Note 3 may also be launched in a Google edition, however the S Pen would then become redundant, unless they make a suite of apps available for the hardware. Expect the Galaxy Note 3 in India as early as October for prices upwards of Rs. 45000 for the basic variant which we expect will be 16 GB. Samsung is also planning to pair up the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch with several new cases and accessories along with a new smart watch dubbed “Galaxy Gear”.

HTC Zara Specs Leak, Budget Device With 4.5" Display And Sense 5.5

HTC is bringing the design language from the One series down to entry level devices, according to an image by notorious leaker evleaks. The HTC Zara has been rumoured before, but its specs never really jumped out at us. With a 4.5-inch qHD screen (960×540 pixels), a dual-core 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, an UltraPixel camera, a 2100mAh battery and, perhaps most interestingly, Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. As handsets go, the HTC Zara (a codename and not final shipping designation) looks to be a mix of the lower-end Desire line and the HTC One. You can see two front-facing speakers along with the company’s unique button placement. The main differences are the more rounded corners and that distinctly Desire-like camera ring on the back. HTC Zara is the second phone we hear of that’s going to launch with the updated Sense 5.5 user interface running on top of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The HTC One Max is going to debut with the company’s updated UI. Sense is HTC’s differentiator in the Android game, though recently it has been focusing more on hardware improvements than software gimmicks. Whether Sense 5.5 will retain the familiar BlinkFeed home screen remains to be seen, but we don’t think HTC will mess with a good thing.

Rumour : Galaxy Note 3 Will Start Shipping In Early September

Samsung is preparing for their big Unpacked event on September 4th. This is when the Galaxy Note 3 and the rumoured Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be unveiled. Specs of both these Android-powered devices have leaked online, but today a new report by reputable site SamMobile has revealed possible shipping dates. If the insider information is to be believed, we should expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to be available for purchase in September. The company’s third-gen phablet is expected to start shipping in Week 36, which goes from September 2 to September 8. Actual market availability usually takes about a week after the units start leaving the factories, so mid-September seems like a a likely target. As for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, it’s going to hit store shelves in October or Week 40 to be specific (September 30 – October 6). Of course, none of these dates are confirmed and SamMobile has a reputable track record of nailing Samsung products and specs, and states there might be “a delay of a week or two may happen, depending on region.” Another note on the Note 3 states that Samsung will apparently drop the 16GB version and offer a base model of the Galaxy Note 3 with 32GB of internal storage. Other notable rumoured specs of the Note 3 are its 5.68-inch full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080 resolution, 1.8GHz Octa-core Exynos 5420 processor, 3GB RAM, 13MP camera with OIS, LTE connectivity, 3,200 mAh battery and runs Android OS 4.3 Jelly Bean.
