Micromax Canvas 4: Here's what it might cost

Micromax is going to launch its fourth flagship smartphone, the Canvas 4 on the 8th of July. The phone has come up for pre-order today at Rs. 5000. To pre-book one, go here. This phone sporting gesture recognition feature will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Lava Iris 504q on this feature. At a very decent price of Rs. 13499 Lava gesture recognition IRIS 504Q will make a very tough competitor of the Canvas 4. The Canvas 4 is also rumoured to be sporting a 13 megapixel camera. There are only a few smartphones in the Indian market with this camera spec. It will also compete with other few premium phones and low-cost smartphones in the Indian market, including Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia ZR, two Celkon models and upcoming Karbonn Titanium S6. On camera front these will make the competition for the Canvas 4. Read: 11 phones with 13 megapixel camera Take a closer look at the Canvas 4 (from the teaser video). It sports a look similar to the Galaxy S4. You can easily understand the immediate competitor of Canvas 4. Both the phones sport a metallic rim around the poly-carbonate back panel. The front screen of the Micromax is not known yet. The Samsung counterpart has got a full HD super amoled screen. The Canvas 3 (Canvas HD) which competed with the Galaxy S3 had an HD display of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, like the Galaxy S3. We can expect Micromax to go a little higher on display resolution and bring a 1920 x1080 like the Galaxy S with the Canvas 4. In camera front also Canvas 4 will compete with the Galaxy S4. Both of these phones have the power of a 13 megapixel auto focus shooter with LED flash. Micromax may not be overlaying camera features with something extra, but stay sure you will get the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean camera features with Canvas 4. Micromax recently updated its Canvas 3 smartphone operating system to the next level of Jelly Bean. This makes us understand that Micromax will work on a Key Lime Pie upgrade for the Canvas 4 when it is available. At least 16 GB memory on dock, and a 32 GB expandable is expected from Micromax. We don’t expect Micromax of offer its latest flagship with 2 or 4 GB user memory anymore. Read: Micromax Canvas 4 could be the first Indian budget octa-core? We can also expect the Canvas 4 with an octa-core processor like the Galaxy S4. The phone however is rumoured to be running on a quad-core MediaTek (MT6589) or a Qualcomm processor. MediaTek was going to launch an octa-core MT6592 late last year, but the launch was delayed to fourth quarter this year. The latest smartphone chip from MediaTek is the MT6589 which is a quad-core one, unless MediaTek decides to go ahead and launch the octa-core chip with the Canvas 4. [This is unlikey.] We are not sure is Micromax can go for Exynos Octa-core like the Galaxy S4. Read: Canvas 4 designed to compete with these 7 smartphones Price wise, the Indian company has been promising a low cost phone in the Canvas series which can be owned without monthly installments. Recently Micromax answered the costly phones of Samsung in the Micromax Can Own Now campaign saying You CAN OWN NOW Micromax Canvas Smartphones without the hassles of schemes, E.M.I and interest! We will expect the company to make the phone affordable. Rumours point to anything between Rs. 16000 to Rs. 25000 for the phone. We wanted to stick to a below Rs. 16000 budget for the Canvas 4 when it launches, but it seems that the price will be about Rs. 20000. What we would want from the company is, to make to stocks available in enough numbers to cater to the demand.
